Institute Of International Education
The Institute of International Education (IIE) fosters mutual understanding, develops global leaders, and protects academic freedom worldwide through educational exchange and training programs that advance the vision of Opening Minds to the World®.
Founded in 1919, the Institute of International Education (IIE) is a private nonprofit leader in the international exchange of people and ideas. In collaboration with governments, foundations and other sponsors, IIE creates programs of study and training for students, educators and professionals from all sectors. These programs include the flagship Fulbright Program and Gilman Scholarships administered for the U.S. Department of State. IIE also conducts policy research, provides resources on international exchange opportunities and offers support to scholars in danger. IIE programs in the MENA Region aim to improve understanding between the United States and MENA countries, develop leadership in the region, and build capacity among individuals and institutions to address global challenges. Approximately one-third of the 20,000 participants in IIE programs each year are from MENA countries. Increasing women’s effectiveness internationally as leaders in information technology (IT), business, education, and government is a specific goal of a growing number of IIE programs.
