Through a series of five workshops and supplemental activities, the E-Mediat program provides technical support and training on new media for civil society to over 220 NGOs in the Middle East and North Africa. E-Mediat delivers basic digital infrastructure, and specialized training to assist the organizations in their communications strategies and ultimately foster more pluralistic and participatory societies including women and youth. The training, coaching and mentoring opportunities offered through E-Mediat empower participating organizations with the knowledge, skills and support to use new media technology to tell their stories, build their membership and support bases, and connect to a community of peers around the world.
During each specialized E-Mediat workshop there is an emphasis on increasing organizational capacity, beyond skills related to new media tools, to include digital activism. The content focuses on how organizations can work to build more pluralistic, participatory, and prosperous societies by following best practices for using new media tools to advocate for a specific cause and promote civic engagement. Organizations also use these tools to support sustainability and to deepen their work within their communities and maximize the impact.
Workshops are supplemented by a number of complementary activities, including webinars, Microsoft trainings, and one-on-one coaching, professional exchange visits, and the opportunity to participate in a number of regional and international social media conferences.
