New Media Overview and Strategic Planning
The first workshop in the E-Mediat program provides an overview of social media and examples of how to use it effectively for the NGOs. The participating NGOs are taught how to develop a framework for creating a social media strategy plan are provided coaching on the implementation of these plans.

Workshop #2
Websites and Blogs
This workshop teaches techniques and tools for scanning and listening on social media channels, including how to set up and use a simple listening dashboard. The second part of the workshops focuses on how to improve an existing web presence and/or setting up a blog and/or website, so they serve as an online home base for the NGO and links to the social media strategy plan.

Workshop #3
Social Networks and Online Communities
Participants learn how to use Facebook and Twitter and incorporate these tools to their social media strategy plan. The workshop focuses on practical application of these tools with hands-on time and shoulder-to-shoulder learning.

Workshop #4
Digital Film and Activism
This hands-on workshop teaches participants how to use storytelling principles to create compelling videos that can be part of a content strategy for a blog, website, or Facebook. Participants learn how to use simple video tools including FLIP camera, editing software, and YouTube.

Workshop #5
Text Messaging and Civic Engagement
The final workshop in the E-Mediat program provides an overview of mobile tools and the mobile generation and how to use the tools as an effective outreach resource. As the last workshop, participants have the opportunity to showcase their social media strategy plans and share what they have learned.
